Ancient volumes from the former library of the Capuchin Friars |
Included among the important works is the restoration of approximately 800 ancient volumes and precious finds that became the property of the Municipality, restoring valid consistency for the preservation, use and valorisation. It is also planned to translate a few volumes from Latin to Italian and English, and to digitise them. For the same purpose, the digitised library heritage and audio, video and graphic materials will also be shared via the Puglia Digital Library platform.
Selection and acquisition of new books
The project foresees the selection and the acquisition of 7,000 new books making a broad and comprehensive catalogue available to users, divided into:
· highly readable books for dyslexia
· printed books
· e-book
· audio books
· Braille books
· tactile books
· biographies and autobiographies
· famous works of fiction and international literature
· dictionaries and manuals on various subjects
· books on local history
The new texts can be consulted inside the library itself or loaned. They will also be included in the collective catalogue of the National Library Service of Italy.
