The fundamental aim of the Massafra World Library project is to support the creation of community libraries: structural redevelopment works, cultural services and supplies for the setting up of the areas.
The outcome is to actively create in a participatory manner an evolved Library model, able to offer innovative services promoting reading and culture adopting technological tools.
The project was implemented by the Massafra-Mottola Lions Club and shared with other local associations.
An accessible cultural project, which foresees the recovery and the redevelopment of the De Notaristefani building.
The creation of the community library marks the achievement of a dual objective: the recovery and the redevelopment of a large block of the historic De Notaristefani building and simultaneously promoting the knowledge of the cultural heritage of the territory.
As part of the works, there is the planned restoration of 820 ancient volumes and precious finds from the Conventual library of the Capuchin Friars, which are now property of the municipality.
